Me apropio de objetios enraizados a una memoria histórica y en amenaza de desaparecer. En este caso daguerrotipos en los que se recoge un cliché y estandarización del retrato infantil son intervenidos directamente mediante el collage con tela, recortes u objetos varios. Modifico algo de su composición, a veces rozando lo surrealista y otras exclusivamente haciendo un tratamiento puramente estético. Con ello, se revalorizan las imágenes cuyo protagonista es la figura infantil humana. Esas vidas enclaustradas en un marco y escenario teatral para su retrato, se transforman para crear nuevas tensiones en las que intervienen las texturas, colores, objetos y montajes. Aunque tienen un carácter seriado y trasnochado mantienen su singularidad al completarse con una realidad contemporánea.

La instalación de las 15 cajas de luz se iluminan de manera intermitente y por fases, destacando únicamente durante unos segundos.

Inmortalización efímera encarna,además, ese pensar benjaminiano del artista como historiador, aquel que propone ejemplos alternativos de historia, más allá de los arquetipos hegemónicos y consolidados, pero también ejemplos alternativos de escritura y comunicación del pasado, creyendo en la fuerza y potencia tangible de las imágenes, poniendo en tela de juicio la dirección de la narración histórica. En definitiva, el artista desempeña la función de recuperar aquello que se relegó al olvido y engrandecerlo. Traer algo pasado al presente, darle validez y localización en el momento actual.

I appropriate objects deeply rooted to a historical memory that is threatened to disappear. In this case daguerreotypes in which appear a cliché and a standardization of the children’s portraits are directly modified using cloth collages, cuttings and several objects. I modify something of its composition, sometimes bordering on the surrealism, other times, doing exclusively a purely esthetic treatment.

This way, images whose protagonist is children’s figure go up in value. These lives cloistered in a frame and a dramatic stage to take the portrait, are converted to create new tensions in which appear textures, colors, objects and montages. Although they have a serial and outdated character they keep their singularity being completed with a contemporary reality.

The system of the 9 light boxes that light in a flashing way and through stages, being emphasized just a few seconds. Inmortalización efímera embodies that benjaminian conception of the artist as a historian, who proposes alternative examples of writing and communication of the past time, believing in the strength and tangible power of the images, calling historical narration into question. In short, the artist acts recovering that was consigned to oblivion and exalt it. He brings something past to the present, giving it validity and location in the present moment.
