The adopted pose before the photographic capture has several readings. On one hand, they are the purely formals as the analysis of the physical appearance or the clothes, however; there are others that underlie and which reading is, at least, enriching, deducing the social and individual status thanks to that immortalization. The photographs are under standardization according to their historical context and depending too on the object that is being photographed. The children’s studio photographs attract specially my attention, as they share the same canon, as I said before. The images are so similar that is difficult to discern the individualities they hide. So, the work looks for the singularity of each of them through the fragmentation and “overflowing”.
Obviously, this term refers to Val del Omar’s work, that made evident the continuity of space in his films by directing spectator look out of the shot, inviting him to guide the action. So, twenty-five fragments of children’s captures are modified with the purpose of stress the peculiarity or strangeness in each of them. Finding that way a breaking-off in what had seemed standardization, but showing the characteristic conventionality of the photograph in the central plank as comparison with the rest of the illustrations.
